Transparency

Why Transparency Matters

COSA-OASIS exists to protect children, confront exploitation, and advocate for justice. But advocacy without accountability is hollow. This page is our open ledger—an evolving record of where we’ve been, what we’ve learned, and how we’re rebuilding with integrity.

We believe transparency is not a performance. It’s a practice. One that demands humility, clarity, and the courage to face uncomfortable truth.

What Happened

In recent years, COSA-OASIS faced public scrutiny over leadership decisions, donor relationships, and storytelling ethics. These concerns—raised by survivors, partners, and the public—were valid. We acknowledge that:

• Our reliance on donor-driven models compromised autonomy and transparency.

• Some of our past communications lacked informed consent and dignity.

• Internal governance structures were insufficiently accountable.

• We failed to respond to early criticism with the openness it deserved.

This reckoning was painful, but necessary. It forced us to confront the gap between our mission and our methods.

What We’ve Changed

We didn’t just revise our messaging—we restructured our foundation. COSA-OASIS is now a self-funded initiative, free from donor influence and committed to survivor-centered practices. Key changes include:

• Governance Overhaul: We implemented clear accountability protocols, including external advisory input and survivor-informed decision-making.

• Ethical Storytelling Framework: All narratives now prioritize dignity, informed consent, and narrative agency. No story is told without permission.

• Financial Independence: We transitioned away from traditional fundraising to ensure our work remains mission-driven, not market-driven.

• Public Accountability Tools: This page, our FAQ, and our public statement are living documents—updated regularly to reflect our growth.

Our Commitment to Ethical Storytelling

We no longer use trauma as currency. Our stories are co-authored, not extracted. We honor complexity, avoid sensationalism, and center the voices of those most affected.

If you see a story on our platform, know that it was shared with full consent, context, and care.

What Comes Next

Transparency is not a checkbox—it’s a compass. We are committed to:

• Publishing regular updates on our practices and challenges.

• Inviting public feedback and survivor input.

• Continuing to evolve our model with humility and creativity.

We welcome scrutiny. We invite dialogue. And we remain open to being held accountable.
